Position Description
Position Title: TRG Associate Consultant - Trial-basis Contract
Position Description: TRG seeks experienced arts marketing professionals, executive directors and general managers to serve North America's largest marketing consulting firm in the arts as an Associate Consultant. The Associate Consultant will be part of a team led by the Vice President of Consulting Services, Keri Mesropov, with guidance and supervision shared by Ms. Mesropov and TRG President Jill Robinson and/or TRG CEO Rick Lester. The Associate Consultant will be expected to meet the standards of a practice that has successfully counseled hundreds of clients in the U.S. and Canada on how to increase revenues through their implementation of TRG sales, service, inventory management, patron data collection, and demand-based pricing strategies. Weekday travel and phone conference availability is a requirement of this position.
Major Responsibilities:
- Participate, as assigned, in selected TRG marketing audits, which are operations assessments that inform TRG's ongoing strategic counsel for specified clients. Organizations of all performing genres and types engage TRG, and Associate Consultants are expected to effectively contribute to our clients in ballet, dance, opera, and theater companies, performing arts festivals and centers, professional choruses, and symphony orchestras.
- Provide support counsel, as assigned, to designated clients in-person and off-site on critical revenue strategies and their implementation, including:
- Subscription and single ticket campaign management
- Pricing and scale of hall
- Inventory management
- Sales operations
- Patron loyalty cultivation and development
- Resource allocation
- Use and deploy TRG analytical tools to monitor and project ticket sales.
- Write and deliver articulate, instructive conference reports.
- Keep assigned TRG staff leader advised of all discussions with and actions taken on behalf of clients.
- Contribute to the preparation of overall assessment presentations to client staff and volunteer leadership.
- Participate in consulting team assessments and strategic counsel development for all TRG clients as part of a colleague team. These telephone conferences are scheduled each Monday, excepting holidays, 10 a.m. to noon Mountain Time.
- Uphold the TRG brand in client service and relentless focus on ticket revenue development.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years experience managing multi-million dollar ticket revenue-producing marketing campaigns for performing arts organizations, including:
- Direct marketing - direct mail, telemarketing, Emarketing
- Advertising and media buying,
- Sales and inventory management.
- Season single ticket campaign strategic planning and implementation
- Candidates will demonstrate success delivering subscription as well as other ticket revenue and growth.
Or: Possess 8+ years experience in a performing arts environment as an executive director or general manager with responsibility and/or oversight for marketing, as well as the following:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as leadership experience in working with and communicating to Boards of Directors.
- Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which are required tools of the TRG consultancy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, direct and guide colleagues to achieve successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, when necessary, and examine data - e.g. sales histories, tracking and pacing documents - to form strategic solutions to marketing situations. Familiarity with TRG response, migration, and PLI analytics is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and to offer creative solutions in challenging situations such as resource limitations and sudden or unexpected changes.
- Understanding of and willingness to uphold the TRG brand methodology, strategic perspective, and high client service standards.
- Willing and able to travel frequently each month; available to attend Monday staff conferences and specified weekday client conferences.
Compensation:
Associate Consultants will be compensated as follows:
- Compensation commensurate with experience and training. All employees of TRG participate in a profit-driven bonus plan, as well as a Simple IRA 401(k) plan.
- Reimbursement at cost for expenses incurred by you while providing services for TRG for travel, meals, lodging, long distance telephone charges, office supplies, postage and delivery charges. Invoices for each month's services are due within the first three business days of the subsequent month.
Independent Contractor Agreement:
Associated Consultants will be employed on a 90-day trial basis via TRG's standard independent contract. The contract will outline scope of work, compensation and payment policy, and TRG's termination policy which allows either party to cancel at any time for any reason. All TRG independent contractors are expected to agree to:
- Confidentiality - The Consultant will not discuss or share information about any client data or circumstances outside TRG.
- Non-compete understanding - The Consultant will not accept employment or assignment from any TRG competitor for a period of 12 months after the termination of the employment relationship.
- Guarantees - The Consultant will not give assurance of achievement of any specific performance results.
- Intellectual property - The Consultant's production in any form of contribution to TRG services is owned in total by TRG.
